Woven Kenya is a small artisanal workshop creating handmade children’s décor and homeware that celebrate Kenyan craftsmanship. Founded by Saumya Purang in 2021, Woven began with a simple goal: to create beautiful products while helping women develop skills and earn a living through their craft.
Our team began with Jackie, our first full-time artisan, whose talent for crochet and macramé continues to shape many of our designs. Since then, three more full-time women artisans have joined us. We also support a wider network of 25 artisans, including tailors and basket weavers, whose expertise brings our collections to life.
We believe in building lasting partnerships with our artisans. Alongside practical craft training, we help them develop basic bookkeeping and management skills, supporting their independence and opportunities both within and beyond Woven. As we grow, our ambition is to establish a permanent workshop where we can train and employ more artisans.
Our appreciation for handmade work also reaches beyond Kenya. Through a collaboration with talented artisans in Jaipur, India, we have developed a collection of hand-block printed products, including bathrobes and totes. This partnership brings together distinct artistic traditions, celebrating the craftsmanship of both regions.
Through every collection, we aim to bring warmth, character and the vibrant spirit of Kenyan and Indian craftsmanship into your home while supporting sustainable artisanal practices and the people who keep these traditions alive.
